The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust today reported on its activities and financial statements for the year ending 30 June 2014.

Appeal Trust announces final grants and celebrates the impact of nearly $100 million to Canterbury
Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trustees today granted $8 million to 20 new local recovery projects and announced that the nearly $100 million donated to the Appeal has been substantively allocated to Canterbury, three years after the first funds were granted.

$2.5 million funding boost to restore Canterbury Provincial Council Buildings
The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage today announced they will jointly provide funding of $2.5 million for the Canterbury Provincial Council Buildings, to be used towards restoration and reconstruction of its Armagh and Durham street stone towers.

Children still struggling post-earthquakes are to benefit from $1.5 million Appeal Trust grant
The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust is granting $1.5 million for social service providers to help increasing numbers of children, young people and their families still struggling psychosocially to recover from the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes.

Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre officially reopens
Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre officially reopens today thanks to $1.1 million from the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust today celebrated the completion of its first substantial recovery project in Kaiapoi, as Prime Minister John Key officially reopened the repaired Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre.

Youth workers to get $330,000 support from Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust
Around 26,000 young people in Canterbury will get better support from 200 youth workers thanks to a $330,000 grant from the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust scheduled to be announced tomorrow at 10am in Christchurch by Minister of Youth Affairs Hon Nikki Kaye at a gathering of youth workers.

Permanent Mt Pleasant community centre receives $500,000 from Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust
The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust is granting $500,000 towards a permanent rebuild of the Mt Pleasant Memorial Community Centre which was demolished in May 2012 after sustaining severe damage in the 22 February and subsequent earthquakes.

Appeal Trust funds volunteer marine search and rescue covering most of the coast
The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust today granted $364,000 to marine search and rescue facilities damaged in the earthquakes that serve most of Canterbury’s coastline from Kaikoura to Timaru and along the Waimakariri River.

When the new netball season opens in April 2013 there will be 12 additional courts to safely play on in Christchurch and Lincoln, repaired to outdoor playing specifications with $436,500 of Christchurch Earthquake Appeal funds.

This afternoon, Prime Minister Rt Hon John Key visited a unique seven-week after school music and circus skills programme run by the Muse Community Music Trust, at Wainoni School in Christchurch. After losing its premises and much equipment in the February 2011 earthquake, the Muse successfully applied for funding from the Vodafone Foundation Canterbury Fund – a $4 million fund jointly established by the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust and the Vodafone Foundation.
