Queens Birthday Honours for Christchurch Earthquake Appeal leaders

Two New Zealanders who have made a significant contribution to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal, were recognised in the Queens Birthday Honours List 2012.

Jane Huria, who is a member of the Advisory Board to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust, has been made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to corporate governance. Jane is Ngai Tahu and affiliates to Ngai Tuahuriri. She has held directorships over the years in a number of public and private sector organisations. Read more about Jane here.

Mark Weldon, who spearheaded global fundraising efforts for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal, has been made a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for his services to the community and business. Mark is a former chief executive of NZX who donated his time and expertise to lead fundraising for the Appeal after it was launched by Prime Minister John Key on 27 February 2011 as the official, global fundraiser for the recovery effort for Christchurch and Canterbury.
